Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra
This weekend, Brian and I got tickets to go to the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra spring concert. (Brian got the tickets from his boss at work.) It was really a great program. The concert featured a classical guitarist named Denis Azabagic, who was really really amazing. He played the notes so fast--faster than I had seen before on a guitar, and he alternated between traditional strumming and this very fast but precise plucking. It was not a usual activity for us, but we both enjoyed it as a change from the norm.

Hi again. Somehow, with Mom gone, I didn't check your blog much, and I missed the whole last week. Mom and I heard a very good guitarist in Phil Keaggy recently--have you heard of him?
Brian, what's your involvement in softball? What do you play?
Thanks for all the pictures.
Dad
Phil Keaggy is a guitar player from the Akron/Youngstown, Ohio area that started out playing in a power trio called "Glass Harp." During the Glass Harp period (late 60s), legend has it that Jimi Hendrix said (on Carson's Tonight Show) that Keaggy was the greatest guitarist Hendrix had ever heard. Keaggy's mother was involved in a fatal car accident in 1970 which led him to convert to Christianity. His music moved away from hard rock influences to contemporary Christian. He's still considered a guitar legend in Northeastern Ohio. Glass Harp reunited for a show in the Northeastern Ohio area back in 2000 or so. They recorded the show and released it as a CD. I still own first Glass Harp record which I bought when I was in high school (mid-70s). I wish I still had a turntable to play it on! Nice to know that Phil is still performing. Jim (Brian's Uncle)
