Brian's family visits Tallahassee

When Brian's family visited Tallahassee, we took them to Wakulla Springs. Here we are in front of the main building, the Lodge. The simulated moonscape comes from the rock that the camera is sitting on. As you can see, we were in two teams: the blue team and the green team. :)

We saw some incredible wildlife on the boat tour. Here you can see a deer eating leaves at the edge of the river. I had never seen a deer at Wakulla before.

Here you can see a group of turtles sunning themselves on a log. This is a common sight, but it shows how our new camera has a lot better zooming capabilities than our old camera. Turtles are cool.

Florida is known for its aligators, and here is a prime example. This gator is also sunning on a log. When they do that, it makes for good pictures because they are very visible.

These ducks may seem unimpressive after the last couple shots, but they are my favorite species to see at Wakulla. There is one duckling in this shot, between the two adult ducks. Nice!

We have some catching up to do...

So we finally got our pictures off the new camera and onto the computer. The next few days, I suspect there will be several new posts with pics of various events.

Here is Josiah with David and Brian at the community pool. They have a pretty cool interactive fun center for kids, and I think Joey had a good time climbing all around, turning knobs and throwing balls, etc.

This is a picture of me with Eli. He cannot swim much yet, but he still likes being in the water. He was a happy baby when in the pool, splashing and smiling and laughing.

Here we can see father and son 'reading' on a Sunday afternoon. Josiah is a much faster reader than his dad, and so he is almost finished with his book already.

end of May

Sorry it has been so long since we posted--this month has been very crazy schedule-wise. After Brian's graduation, we went to Disney for a week with his parents and brother. Then we came back to Tallahassee to move (Mon-Thurs). After attending a work social event for Brian's work on Thursday evening, we took off driving to visit family Friday morning. We did a whirlwind tour, seeing my parents, my brothers and their families, B's grandma, B's grandpa, and B's parents. We arrived home early Memorial Day. Brian started work the next day at 8:00AM. Whew.

So how are things now? Well, we still have a LOT of boxes sitting around. I am working my way though many of them. We have the bathroom and kitchen pulled together, with lots of new organization items, so everything will be tidy. The ferrets have their own room that is mostly set up so they can play safely. Our bed is not yet put together, since there are too many boxes still in the bedroom. (We have been sleeping on the futon next to the ferrets.) We haven't found a couch for the main room yet, but there is no space for it yet either. B's computer was acting funny the last few months, so we have a new one in a box in the middle of the main room, adding to the clutter. I hope to post pictures soon, but that will have to wait until the new computer is put together so we can install the downloading software on it (our camera is filled with pictures!).

I am still job-hunting, but I am mainly keeping busy trying to impose some order on our belongings and running errands (to Target for laundry detergent, groceries, the Chemistry building, the Anthropology department, the post office, to Goodwill with yet another load of stuff, etc). Brian has a fulltime job now, and he also has started studying for the BAR. According to his co-workers, they studied several hours at work and 4 hours in the evenings in order to pass the Bar, so he is trying to match their efforts. It is quite a stressful event, since his job and salary depend on it, so he will have his head full of law details until late July.

Tomorrow I will have the joy of paying 2 rent checks, since our old place has not been sublet. :(

Back in Tallahassee

We're back in Tallahassee now and deep into moving. It'll be a few days at least before that's completed, but we hope to make more progress tomorrow and Monday.

We had a good time in Orlando, but it went surprisingly fast. We also enjoyed a trip to Wakulla Springs before heading south.

We hope to post pictures from last week soon.

Law School Graduation Day

Today, Brian graduated! Here he is getting hooded by one of the law school professors. It was a very nice ceremony. The actual paper program was quite long, since it included a list of all the student activities, awards, and publications. Brian was mentioned frequently. :)

Here we are, post graduation. By the time the ceremony was finished, it was extremely warm outside. We quickly retreated into the AC of the law school, which was just across the street.

ferret update

Today Eve decided to try some of my italian ice, and she liked it a lot. Here she is, trying to get more by sneaking over my shoulder.

Eve is a pretty cute girl when she naps, as seen here. Her paws are especially nice.

Brussels is a good-natured guy, but he had to go to the vet earlier this week because of fur loss and itchiness. They drew blood and are doing a variety of tests to see what is wrong. Today we chewed on Eve's ear a little, which did not make her happy at all. But he is usually a very well-behaved guy.

Well, we have paid our first month's rent, so this space is officially ours for the next year. I went over today to do a little cleaning and start moving boxes of books in. This is a view from the front door, looking through the living room. The door on the right is the kitchen, while the door on the left is the bedroom. There is also another door to the left of the shot to another room, which will serve as a ferret room/relaxing space.

Here is the view from the outside. It is a duplex, so I chopped the other half of the building off in the picture. The yard needs some work, but that is not really our primary concern right now.
