Statue of Liberty
FYI: I was looking into buying tickets to the statue of liberty online last night, and I discovered that the tickets to the top of the statue are sold out until November. So it seems like you need to book these tickets about 3 months in advance or so. I don't know if anyone was planning a visit in the next year, but if you want to climb the statue of liberty (over 300 steps), you need to reserve tickets early.

300 steps, not seeing that in my future, even in 3 months or more. I might need to wait at the bottom and get a report amd view digital pictures when you come back down.

Well, the good news is that if you don't want to climb into the statue itself, tickets are a lot easier to come by. You just need to wait at the ferry stop. The website says that the wait can be around an hour, since you have to go through airport-like security, but you can just walk up and purchase them on the say you want to go. The ferry stops at Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty.
Wow--you've posted quite a bit since I saw this last. So Columbia U was there pre-1776? I'll have to read up on its history. Some more pictures of the University would be nice.

We did the trip to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island last October - I can attest to that waiting in line for security thing. Also, there was a really long wait to get on the ferry to get back to the mainland (we decided that made it feel like an authentic Ellis Island experience...). But the statue wasn't open to climb up when we were there last November - that's quite recent. I hope you get a chance to do it!
